First, Know the Two Writing Tasks

The Independent Writing task involves writing a four to five paragraph essay of 300 to 350 words. High-scoring responses take a clear position immediately, give two specific supporting reasons with examples, and end with a brief conclusion. They do not sit on the fence. They do not repeat the same idea twice in different words.
To boost your score, focus on planning your essay, using varied sentence structures, and supporting ideas with examples. Always proofread before time runs out.

The One Habit That Makes Samples Useful
Do not just read samples analyse them. Ask yourself: how did this writer open their essay? How did they transition between points? What kind of examples did they use? How did they conclude? Then practise writing your own response to the same prompt and compare.
