    Exactly what is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It is the process of improving a website so that it appears higher in search engine results on platforms like Google and Bing.
When people search online for information, products, or services, search engines show a list of results. SEO helps your website show up in those results, ideally on the first page so more people can find and visit your site. “Out of the box” a new website may not have been created in a way that makes it appear on SERPs (search engine result pages). It is the task of an SEO specialist to make necessary changes, that will help such site or pages show up on SERPs.

    Why Is SEO Important?
Most users rarely go past the first page of search results. If your website ranks higher:
    More people will see it
You get more organic (free) traffic
Your brand gains more visibility and credibility
You can attract the right audience
You spend less on paid advertisement
    Of course your revenue grows

    How Does SEO Work?
Search engines use complex algorithms to decide which pages to show first. They look at factors such as:
Keywords – The words people type into search engines

Content quality – Helpful, relevant, and original information

Website structure – How well your site is organised

Mobile-friendliness – Whether your site works well on phones

Page speed – How fast your website loads

Backlinks – Links from other trusted websites

Quality of images used to illustrate your article or products

User experience – how easy your site is to navigate

The three main aspects to SEO:
On-Page SEO – Optimising content, titles, headings, and images on your website.

Off-Page SEO – Building trust through backlinks and external signals.

Technical SEO – Improving the technical performance of your site (speed, security, indexing, etc.).

    In short
SEO is about helping search engines understand your website and helping users find what they are looking for without too much difficulty finding it on your website. When done correctly, SEO can bring long-term, consistent traffic to your website without paying for ads.
For people looking for a job or skill they can learn and start earning from within a short time, SEO is one such skill. You can find more information about the Odurinde eLearning SEO course here. You can show your interest by registering for the course here.
