Starting Tech Without Fear — A Beginner’s Journey (Webinar)

Date: 20th December 2025
Speaker: Folasayo Samuel Olayemi

Are you ready to begin your tech journey… without fear?

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed looking at code, or wondered how to break into tech, you’re not alone. Many people dream of building digital products, writing code, launching a startup, or contributing to tech communities. But the biggest barrier is often fear: fear that you don’t know enough, fear of failing, fear of not fitting in.

That’s exactly why we created this webinar: “Starting Tech Without Fear (A Beginner’s Journey)”. On 20th December 2025, we’ll sit down (virtually) with someone who’s walked that path, someone who has seen the mistakes, the confusion, and the breakthroughs, and emerged not only as a working technologist, but a community builder.

We believe that with the right guidance, mentorship, and encouragement, anyone can start and thrive. And we want YOU to be part of that journey.

Why this webinar matters — and why you should attend

  • Real talk from someone who’s been there. This isn’t a glossy “look how successful I am” pitch. This is a conversation with a beginner-turned-pro. A chance to learn from real experience.
  • A safe space to ask “naive” questions. Sometimes, asking the “wrong” question can feel embarrassing. Not here. Whether you know just the basics, or nothing at all, you’ll be among beginners and friendly faces.
  • A guide to building confidence, not just skills. Tech is more than syntax, it’s mindset, habits, growth. We’ll focus on how to stay motivated, learn consistently, and build projects that matter.
  • Community, connection, and inspiration. You’ll meet others like you, curious, aspiring, ready to begin. This is where journeys begin, friendships form, and developers are born.

If you’ve ever hesitated because you don’t think you’re “ready,” consider this your official invitation.

Meet our guest speaker — Folasayo Samuel Olayemi

We’re honoured to host Folasayo Samuel Olayemi, a passionate Product Manager and Developer Advocate with a track record of turning ideas into scalable, real-world digital products. Unlike many “influencers,” Folasayo’s journey began just like many of ours, from curiosity, from trying to figure things out one step at a time.

Here’s a snapshot of who he is:

  • As a Product Manager, Folasayo leads product initiatives at SeerBit, working to improve transaction efficiency, partner engagement, and user experience across Africa and the UK.
  • On LinkedIn, he commands a large following, signaling that a lot of people trust and learn from his insights.
  • He’s a well-known Developer Advocate, dedicated to simplifying complex technical ideas and making them accessible to beginners and pros alike.
  • Beyond work: he’s heavily involved in community building. Folasayo is a leader in the MongoDB User Group Lagos (MUG Lagos), and as of November 2025, he was named MongoDB User Group Leader of the Month, in recognition of his dedication to growing developer communities, mentoring beginners, and nurturing real projects.

In short: he doesn’t just teach tech, he lives it, breathes it, and builds communities around it.

What to expect at the webinar

During the webinar, Folasayo will walk us through:

  • His personal journey: how he started, what he struggled with, and how he overcame common beginner fears.
  • The mindset and habits that helped him, and can help you, progress in tech.
  • Practical tips: what to learn first, what tools to use, how to stay focused when things get overwhelming.
  • How to navigate the early days: making your first project, getting comfortable with code, collaborating, building your portfolio.
  • How to join and contribute to tech communities, because growth happens faster when you’re part of a community.

We also plan to leave time for Q&A, so you can ask anything. No judgment. No gatekeeping. Just honest, helpful advice.

Why this matters — for you and for the future

The tech industry is booming. Across Africa and around the globe, demand for digital skills, development, product design, engineering, is rising fast. But too many people are shut out, not because they lack intelligence or drive, but because they don’t know where to begin, they feel intimidated, or they fear failure.

With this webinar, we hope to lower that barrier. We want to show you clearly: that yes,  you can start. And you can grow.

But more than just skills: we want to help build confidence. We want to spark community. We want to foster growth, not just for you, but for everyone you’ll go on to inspire or help.

Imagine a world where more people, from Port Harcourt to Lagos, from student dorms to small towns, feel that tech is not just for “experts,” but for curious, passionate people like you.

That world starts with one step.

Ready to take that step?

Mark 20th December 2025 in your calendar. Watch this space. Make sure you subscribe for updates. Invite a friend. Come with curiosity.

We can’t wait to see you at Starting Tech Without Fear — A Beginner’s Journey.

Let’s start building. Together
